Kono Hawaii was located in Santa Ana CA, about 10 minutes from Disneyland. Walt Disney would frequent Kono, not only enjoying the food and ambiance but one of the waitresses became a Disneyland float decorator, and some of the first performers for Adventureland’s Tahitian Terrace stage show, came from Kono Hawaii.
Made up of 3 rooms, guests would dine and be entertained in the Kono Aloha Room, enjoy Sukiyaki and Tepanaki in The Tea House and tropical cocktails in the Luau Shack.
Although we couldn’t find exact opening and closing dates, Kono was popular in the 60s and 70s when Do Ho and Society of Seven were some of the entertainers. In the 80s and 90s the restaurant transitioned to a new wave establishment, and bands like No Doubt performed there.
