The Kauai Restaurant & Lounge, located in Daytona Beach, FL was owned and run by husband and wife team Teva and Napua Lucas. Teva was from Tahiti, and performed as a fire dancer all over Florida. The couple met when Teva was performing at Hawaiian Gardens where Napua was a hula dancer. The Kauai had 3 shows per night which included Polynesian music, fire and knife dancers, and you get a complete dinner for $2.95.The Kauai was short lived and after closing 1970, Teva became the restaurant manager for Trader Frank’s at Tiki Gardens, where he and Napua also performed. They had hopes to move back to Tahiti.
