"Get set for a South Seas Adventure in Exotic Dining" said the ads for the new Kon Tiki which was added to downtown Kansas City’s La Louisiane Restaurant after a remodel in 1963.

The owners Rube Levine and Jimmy Sholtz brought in Mr. Edward Chun from Chicago’s Polynesian Room which was located in the Edgewater Beach Hotel to over see “the most complete Cantonese menu in the Midwest”.

The Kon Tiki offered the finest cantonese food, steaks, seafood and exotic tropical drinks served all day.  The extensive cocktail menu was categorized into 3 categories, small, medium and tall ones. A Rum Old Fashioned (small) was .75 cents, a Mai Tai (medium) $1.50, and you could splurge on a Zombie for $2 (tall).
